IT Technician

Position Overview

We are looking for a technically skilled candidate with good problem solving for the position of IT Technician that will install and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. A successful IT Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Help maintain, monitor and upgrade computer systems and a network in combination with IT contractors

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)

  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications

  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems

  • Manage queries via email, in-person or with ticketing system, work closely with IT contractors to ensure setups within process/infrastructure configuration

  • Assist with any hardware setups/installs in the office including AV equipment.

  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work

  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)

  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule

  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders

  • IT configuration for new employees, employee termination process


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant field

  • 3- 5 years of experience in computer networks and system maintenance

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication ability

  • Proficient in database programming and software Installation

  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles

  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)

  • Must be able to work independently and assist with multiple projects, priorities.

  • Being able to multi-task and work with deadlines are an essential function of this position. Strong communication skills, teamwork and the ability to promote a positive work environment are also require

working Conditions

  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard computer networking equipment.  Travel may be requested to assist in other locations up to 10%.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work standard business hours Monday – Friday. Occasional late evening or overnight work may be requested. We will provide as much notice as possible for these for planning purposes.

  • This position operates in a mainly clerical setting. Routinely uses standard equipment, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time using a computer keyboard and monitor

  • Routinely needs to do filing, which will require opening file cabinet drawers, being able to bend for file placement.

  • The position frequently requires objects to be moved from one place to another under 25 pounds lifting is periodically needed in order to move computer equipment such as computers, laptops, servers.

  • Being able to lift, move and relocate equipment (computers, printers, fax machines, etc.) may be required.

  • This person frequently communicates with employees and vendors who have inquires. Must be able to read, write and communicate to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • Worker is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

  • Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading at a distance that is close to the eyes
